What is L.H.E.?

L.H.E. = "Light Heat Energy"

L.H.E. technology safely utilizes Heat and Light to create a thermal process in a variety of skin conditions.  The technology utilizes a Light Unit Assembly ("LUA") from which light is emitted as a pulse of photons and which are transformed into heat within the targeted lesion/tissue and thereby initiates the treatment process.  The Heat generated by the Light Pulse combined with heat radiated from the LUA utensil, generates heat, sufficient to coagulate the targeted tissue with no damage to the surrounding tissues.

Using a unique 3-prong approach of green light, red light and heat, LHE optimize the oxygen and quickly destroys the P.acnes.  Green and red light reach deep into the pore while the heat intensifies the process and gently opens the pore to release the clog and soothe inflammation.

TREATMENT PROCEDURE

The length of a complete LHE acne clearance treatment will vary depending on the individual and the severity of the acne being treated.  But generally requires 2 visits per week over a 4-week period,

A minimum of 8 visits are required to achieve optimal results.  Each visit will include 2 sessions spaced 5 minutes apart.

It is vitally important to comply with the recommended treatment course even should the acne disappear during treatment.

PRE-TREATMENT

Discontinue sun tanning and the use of tanning beds/solarium and also the use of self-tanning creams 4 weeks before and throughout the treatment course.  This will reduce the chance of skin colour changes, and development of new lesions.  Always use a SPF30 sunscreen on all exposed treatment areas and re-apply every 2 hours throughout the day.  Wear protective hats and clothing.

The treatment area should be free of makeup.

Treating acne takes a number of sessions and you should be willing to complete the full set of treatments.

We do not recommend to be treated if you are pregnant, or if you have been using photosensitive medications within past 4 weeks or patients on isotretinion (eg Accutane) within the past 6 months

POST TREATMENT

A mild sunburn-like sensation is expected.  This usually lasts 2-24 hours but can persist up to 72 hours.  Mild swelling and/or redness may accompany this, which usually resolves in 2-3 days.  In some cases, prolonged redness or blistering may occur.

Apply cold gel packs or cool wet cloths to the treatment areas for 15 minutes every 2-4 hours if needed until symptoms subside. 

Do not pick, scratch or remove scabs.  This will prevent unwanted side effects.

Until redness has completely resolved avoid all of the following;
       - swimming, especially pools with chemical/chlorine
       - hot tubs and jacuzzis
       - avoid sun exposure to treated areas
       - apply sunscreen with SPF30 daily to sun-exposed skin.

Bathe or shower as usual.  Treated areas may be temperature sensitive.  Cool showers or baths will offer relief.

Avoid excessive scrubbing, use of exfoliants, and loofa sponged until the treatment area has returned to its pre treatment condition.

Avoid sun exposure to treated areas, as well as the use of sun beds and self-tanning creams. 

It is very important to follow your treatment regime set out by your technician for optimum results.
