On Tuesday evening I had the pleasure of attending the official Dermalogica AGE Smart launch in Sydney. With over 200 attendees from the industry and magazines Dr Diana Howard from The International Dermal Insitute spoke of why Dermalogica is using certain ingredients to counteract against biochemical reactions in the skin.   I am very excited with this range, in particular the MAP-15 Regenerator.  The powder to emulsion technology gives immediate results!!!  This spot treatment for wrinkles sees them all but dissappear before your very eyes.

With 450 million baby boomers worldwide, it should come to no surprise that the skin care industry dedicates so much effort toward delivering products that will appeal to treating skin ageing.

In general skin is smooth, bright and firm.  Depending on UV exposure and skin condition, there may be a few dehydration lines around the eyes and mouth (first signs of premature aging.  However skin cells are regenerating every 14-25 days, which helps skin looking healthy.

PROGRAM 1

For skin beginning to show the signs of ageing or before a special event, the AGE Smart Skin Treatment 3 times over a 2 month period (3 treatments = 2 months) specifically to address any areas of photo damage that are beginning to surface.  Otherwise this series is ideal in the Autumn/Winter months.

Cell turnover begins to slow to around 30 plus days in this decade; which leads to dullness and a less skin tone.  Skin may be slightly drier and more dehydrated than it was in the 20s as oil production slows and barrier lipids reduce.  Wrinkles are more evident and prominent around the eyes and mouth (smile lines).  Elasticity and skin tone begin to diminish as collagen and elastin reduce by 1% per year

PROGRAM 2

To defend the skin and reduce the signs of ageing 3 times over a 3 week period (3 treatments = 3 weeks).  After the series, the AGE Smart treatment can be maintained once monthly

 A combination of UV exposure and a declining amount of estrogen cause erosion to the skins underlying support structure, and also inhibits its ability to retain moisture.  Skin expereinces a loss of elasticity and firmness, is thinner and often dehydrated.  Wrinkles are deeper and more prominent on the entire facial landscape, and skin may be asgging.  Hyperpigmentation is also prominent during these decades.

PROGRAM 3

6 times over a 6 week period (6 treatments = 6 weeks).  After the series of treatments the treatment can be reduced to fortnightly and then gradually to once per month.
