what is that? facial fact sheet Microdermabrasion How it works A disposable head on a suction handpiece makes contact with the skin releasing micro-!ne crystals onto the skin to blast & deride the dead skin cells, which are then vacuumed away, revealing newer, fresher-looking skin. Downtime Recovery is immediate, though the area may be a little red for a few hours. We use and recommend mineral makeup, which can be applied immediately following the treatment, and will help conceal and heal the skin without blocking pores or affecting the treatment results. Pain level Mild Results expected The immediate skin result is smoother, clearer, softer, refined, healthier looking skin. The results will last a few weeks, until your skin naturally develops a new stratum corneum. Professional Strength Skin Peels How it works A medical strength peel is a caustic procedure that burns the outer layers of the skin revealing a younger, fresher looking skin. Usually acids like salicylic, glycolic and lactic will be used. And products vary at in strength. Downtime Lighter strength peels generally have no downtime, and are often performed as ‘lunch time’ peels. They are effective for light skin pigmentation problems, reduction of sebaceous gland oil (prime contributor to pimples and acne), sun spots, fine lines and wrinkles and minor skin problems. Usually multiple treatments are needed as it is not a deep peel. Some of the deeper peels can have a day or so of downtime and subsequent skin peeling. Pain Level Mild – slight tingling & itchiness as well as feeling “heat” in the skin is normal. Results Expected There will be an improvement in skin appearance and texture, softening of fine lines, increased smoothness in skin texture, lightening of pigmentation irregularities, an increase in the skin’s natural glow or radiance and minimisation of pore size due to pore emptying. Downtime With no down time, you can have your treatments performed at any time of day and return to work with no visible signs of treatment. Recovery is generally immediate or overnight, depending on the size and location of the treatment. The area may be a little red for a few hours & pigment spots may increase in colour temporarily. Pain Level Generally, treatments have a very small level of discomfort and the majority of clients would say it is less painful than waxing or electrolysis. Some say it feels like a quick flicking of a rubberband on the skin. Results expected The results from IPL will depend on the nature of your skin condition. The technology is superior, therefore a reduction in redness and pigmentation and acne breakouts should be evident.
